How do I increase the water pressure in my shower? It seems that none of the shower heads that you buy in regular stores (home depot, ace hardware, lowes, walmart, etc.) give good, powerful, meaning high water pressure. Are there any high pressure, high velocity shower heads out there, or is there a way to fiddle with a shower head or hand held to increase the water pressure?

  1. You need to buy special shower heads (not sold at home depot) that are designed specifically for low-pressure showers...

First of all nothing short of spending hundreds of dollars on new pumps, pressure tanks, and ripping all our your old copper pipes out of the wall and replacing them with all new larger diameter PVC pipes will actually increase ones water pressure. There is no such thing as a shower head or handheld that you increase your water pressure and anyone who tells you anything differently simply does not know what they are talking about. Certain shower heads and handhelds CAN and dramatically increase the velocity, which is the force and power, of your water which does in fact give you a better more powerful shower. The problem is that most people who suffer from low water pressure have absolutely no clue what shower head to buy. Just going out and buying a shower head and removing the flow resister does NOTHING to increase the velocity of the water. Removing the flow restrictor only increases the flow rate and not the velocity. The secret to getting a good quality shower if you have low water pressure is this:

    1. Most consumers have not a clue when it comes to buying a shower head or handheld. They purchase a shower head or handheld without any idea as to what they are actually buying. Simply going to the hardware store and picking something off the shelf is not a good solution to low water pressure. You need to find a company that specializes in low water pressure.
    2. You need to buy a shower head or handheld that is specifically engineered from the drawing board for low water pressure. Don’t fall for a simple sales pitch that says that a shower head will work of low pressure. 99.9% of the shower heads that claim to give you a better shower with low water pressure do absolutely nothing expect empty your wallet and leave you dirty.
    3. When buying a shower head or handheld you MUST purchase it for a company that specializes in this item, that has tested hundreds of shower heads, and has been in business for a long time. A guy selling shower heads out of a closet in his apartment in Boston isn’t the person that you would want to do business with.

I recently purchased a shower head specifically designed to handle low water pressure showers from a company called Take A Shower LLC in Naples, FL. It was fantastic! They have a line of shower heads and handhelds that are specifically engineered for a more powerful, invigorating shower than you ever thought possible.
